Goal
Gift Permanent Supportive Housing, Inc. supports the notion that homelessness due to joblessness, mental disability, and other life circumstances is just like any other psycho-social disability and should not be stigmatized, but should be viewed in a humane, caring and compassionate manner. Therefore Gift Permanent Supportive Housing, Inc. is committed to providing our clients, men, and women in our community, aged 21-85 years a family-like environment. We believe that in a conducive and home-like environment with adequate experienced professional and caring staff, Clients under our care shall again regain their sense of belonging and pride in who they are and what they can achieve.
MISSION
Gift Permanent Supportive Housing, Inc., Inc is a supportive, nurturing, yet structured homelike environment that is set up to provide shelter, clothes, food, medical assistance, job training, time and money management for the homeless and jobless men and women, 21 years and above in metropolitan Atlanta. In pursuit of this objective, we shall follow specific program strategies and objectives listed below.
1. Provide comprehensive basic self-care, adaptive and social skills training for the Clients. For example teaching them job skills, money management, time management, anger and anxiety management, medical referrals, interpersonal relations, etc
2. Assure that Clients understand their problems, and need to assume responsibility for their wellness.
3. Enhance the functioning and wellbeing of the Clients by emphasizing basic self-care that will teach skills in dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, and compliance to re-directions.
4. Encourage the participation of families if any in the care plan by facilitators’ constant communication and dialogue between Gift Permanent Supportive Housing, Inc., and relatives/ legal guardians of Clients.
5. Maintain a highly motivated, caring, legal, and competent staff that will be able to complete required reports and follow written and oral instructions as it pertains to the care and supervision of Clients. Staff will also be medically fit to handle the medical and social needs and diverse behaviors of the Clients’ population. Staff should be cognizant of the Clients’ rights and be ready at all times to comply. The staff should be capable of appropriately handling emergencies.
6. The administrator or the onsight manager shall make sure everybody who offers direct care to the Clients must satisfactorily complete a total of at least sixteen (16) hours of continuing education each year in paraprofessional counseling.
7. Additionally, direct staff shall be competent before performing assigned tasks, which shall include being competent in the following areas:
(a) Reporting requirements
(b) First Aid
(c) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
(d) Personal care, supervision, and protection
(e) Safety and fire prevention
(f) Prevention and containment of communicable diseases
8. Adhere strictly to state rules and regulations governing the establishment and running of group/personal care homes
Will make transportation available to Clients whenever necessary to community programs or other activities that Gift Permanent Supportive Housing, Inc. may deem fit?
